Mom had her 2nd speech therapy session today which lasted about 40 minutes. She inconsistently participated in the therapy session and was responding in the physical and verbal (whisper) activities but it appeared that she continues to be physically weak or in pain. While she does respond to commands, her verbal replies, while minimal, happens during casual conversation. Mom’s apparent comprehension (in English and Chinese) continues to be positive and a good indication of progress.
Mom responds most always to her siblings and both Auntie Wendy and Auntie Diane, spoke to her on the phone the last couple of days. She holds the phone with her left hand and responds to them in chinese, and seemingly understands what they are saying to her. She closes by telling them, I love you, and you can see on her face, that she is frustrated, wanting so badly to tell them more. It will come, we remind her, as she gets to be even more patient during this time.
Once again, she slept most of the day, in between the Speech Therapy and the Occupational Therapy.
For her therapy lessons, Ray made the most incredible 170 page, (or so), 8.5 x 11 color picture bounded booklet, with large fonts, that provides her with pictures of her, her children, her family, her grandchildren, her garden, and angles of all the parts of her home can only help her in her healing! It's an amazing gift for her that will be used to help her speak, as well as remembering the goal, to get her back to her beloved home and the lifestyle that she has been blessed with! Mom will see it for the first time tomorrow!
We thank you for your constant prayers for both our Mom and her Sister, Auntie Wendy.
Mahalo!
These Moms are so loved by their children and their siblings.
God is carrying each of them, in their own health journey and difficult circumstance. In every season of life, whether joy or sorrow, God is with us. His grace carries us in each season of our lives. May each of your feel His presence and grace on this day.
In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
love love love
