Aloha all,
Mom failed the swallow test this a.m. as she was unable to swallow the apple sauce.
This is fairly normal for patients with head injuries and so it's been decided that
Mom will have a feeding tube placed directly in her stomach, which is about an hour process,
done at her bedside.
Because of her continued improvements in all other ways (blood pressure, markers in nutritional status testing, blood levels, blood/sugar), she has just been moved to the "Step Down" ICU room. This is an indication of slow progress...we're steppin' down!
She has slept most of the day with a dose of pain medication as yesterday's exciting events of watching
videos and photos may have pooped her out! :) We will continue to update you all daily and covet your prayers.
Faith Brings Joy.
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5: 3 - 5
Blessings,
Ramona's ohana
